1945 Case Study House #9 | Architects: Charles Eames and Eero Saarinen Location: 205 Chautauqua BlvdLos Angeles, CA 90272
Case Study House #9 was designed by Charles Eames and Eero Saarinen for Art and Architecture magazine publisher, John Entenza.
John Entenza was to modernism what Anna Wintour is to fashion. Editor of the magazine from 1940 until 1962, he was the first to publish and popularize the works of now-legendary designers such as Harry Bertoia, the Eameses, Craig Ellwood, and George Nakashima.
Herman Miller has released a new limited Asia edition of the iconic Eames Lounge Chair and Ottoman. This version comes in all black, featuring black plywood framing and black premium leather. The chair is delivered along with a limited edition vintage poster of the chair. Both the framed print and the chair are limited to 100 pieces.
Primary obsession. Saarinen Executive Side Chairs surround a perfect little Eames Aluminum Group Coffee Table. From Knoll and Herman Miller, respectively. I particularly love the line of Mid Mod pots on the wall.
This blog is about design and the built environment. And twice a year you'll get to see what I see at the High Point Furniture Market. I'm a publication designer and art director, and I live in High Point, NC.
